Courageous Conversations: Mental Health Matters


The University of Ottawa’s satellite campus, uOttawa Kanata North, in partnership with the Faculty of Medicine have collaborated with several community partners to present Courageous Conversations. This event is to raise awareness of mental health and to showcase the range of resources available to the Kanata North community. Susan Blain, founder of the Dare to be Vulnerable Project, will open the event by hosting a courageous conversation with some well-known individuals in the community who will share their personal stories regarding mental health.

A panel of mental health experts, practitioners and researchers will come together to talk about a broad range of mental health topics. Hear from representatives from The University of Ottawa Brain and Mind Research Institute, Ottawa Public Health, the Youth Services Bureau (YSB), CHEO, QCH and The Royal.

Come join us from 9:30-11:30am on Wednesday January 25, 2023, at Hub350 for this free event. Free parking as well as coffee, tea and pastries will be available.

Growth Mindset Through the Lens of a World Class Football Team, Manchester United


CU@Kanata & Carleton Future EDge are hosting a presentation and Q&A session at Hub350 with guest speakers from Manchester United F.C. on leadership and the functioning of elite performance and team dynamics from the world of high-pressure professional football at Premier League and European Champions League level. Hosted by Brent Wallace, the session will cover why business is interested in sports and what sports can teach business in dynamic and pressured environments in terms of how to prepare to succeed. In addition, will discuss why the maintenance of a growth mindset is key to repeated serial winning and consistently superior performance over extended time periods, and how to nurture and grow young talent toward world-class performance.

  • Erin Crowe, CFO, Ottawa Senators

As a transformational executive and trusted strategic adviser with business acumen, Erin Crowe thrives on implementing new initiatives to increase revenue, profit, and value. In 2015, after more than 18 years with the Ottawa Senators, Erin went on to serve as COO and CFO of a real estate developer and manager, CFO of a global leader in water ride innovation and design, and CFO of a TSXV-listed software company in the digital experience monitoring space. In February 2022, Erin’s career came full circle when she officially rejoined the Ottawa Senators as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of the Ottawa Senators.

Originally from New Zealand, having studied Microbiology at the University of Otago, Sarah came to Canada 9 years ago and started working in the medical field. She made the change over to the brewing industry 5 years ago. During that time she has been a member of the Pink Boots Society, received several scholarships and has worked on a woman's day beer each year.

The Kanata-Carleton Small Business Network (KCSBN) is pleased to announce that we are hosting our 8th signature annual Small Business Fair and Networking event in 2023 in person at Hub350 on Wednesday April 26 from 8 to 5pm. 

This event is geared toward small businesses and job seekers. Join us to promote your small business and connect with potential clients and employees. 


4:00-5:00pm - vendors set up (1hr)

5:00-5:05pm - Welcome remark (5min)

5:05-5:20pm - Opening remark by Mayor Mark Sutcliffe & other officials (10min) 

5:20-7:50pm - Showcasing & Networking (2.5hr)

8:00-9:00 - vendors clean up (1hr)

We will be collecting non-perishable food items for the Kanata Food Cupboard.
