The University of Ottawa’s satellite campus, uOttawa Kanata North, in partnership with the Faculty of Medicine have collaborated with several community partners to present Courageous Conversations. This event is to raise awareness of mental health and to showcase the range of resources available to the Kanata North community. Susan Blain, founder of the Dare to be Vulnerable Project, will open the event by hosting a courageous conversation with some well-known individuals in the community who will share their personal stories regarding mental health.
A panel of mental health experts, practitioners and researchers will come together to talk about a broad range of mental health topics. Hear from representatives from The University of Ottawa Brain and Mind Research Institute, Ottawa Public Health, the Youth Services Bureau (YSB), CHEO, QCH and The Royal.

Erin Crowe, CFO, Ottawa Senators
As a transformational executive and trusted strategic adviser with business acumen, Erin Crowe thrives on implementing new initiatives to increase revenue, profit, and value. In 2015, after more than 18 years with the Ottawa Senators, Erin went on to serve as COO and CFO of a real estate developer and manager, CFO of a global leader in water ride innovation and design, and CFO of a TSXV-listed software company in the digital experience monitoring space. In February 2022, Erin’s career came full circle when she officially rejoined the Ottawa Senators as Chief Financial Officer and Executive Vice President of the Ottawa Senators.
Sarah Scullion, Brewer, Big Rig Brewery
Originally from New Zealand, having studied Microbiology at the University of Otago, Sarah came to Canada 9 years ago and started working in the medical field. She made the change over to the brewing industry 5 years ago. During that time she has been a member of the Pink Boots Society, received several scholarships and has worked on a woman's day beer each year.
